THE HALL

THE HALL is an exceptional room, where new thoughts and ideas can be tried out; both
as meeting room for collaborators, lounge and reading room for the visitors at
GL STRAND. For the shaping of this multifunctional room we have invited outstanding
Danish artists; like now MALENE LANDGREEN.

When the framework changes the though moves on. That’s the intention with THE HALL;
a different room where to gather. Not only a meeting room but a room, where you meet
the art and with that meet each other and the topics in a new way.

In THE HALL the art involves the whole room and everyone who uses it. THE HALL is
mainly for the collaborators of GL STRAND, but can be reserved as agreed for meetings,
workshops, talks, courses and special arrangements. We offer with pleasure creative
counselling and assistance about the preparation and the holding of the meeting.

The installation in THE HALL is replaced continuously. In that way the meeting planner
and others can always be at the leading edge of an offer to a different inspiring meeting
room.

Hire THE HALL for a day DKK 5,500,- / ½ day DKK 3,000,-

MALENE LANDGREEN

I SALEN har Malene Landgreen (f.1962) skabt en skulpturel installation, hvor hun
omtænker Montanas kubiske moduler i et ’aktivt bord’, der som et takket landskab
fungerer i forskellige højder.

1987-94.

MARIANNE GRØNNOW - Broken Palace
22. February - 06. July 2008

With the spatial installation Broken Palace the Danish artist Marianne Grønnow has
created a seductive and contemplative space in THE HALL at GL STRAND, whose ruined
beauty brings traces of the decadent royal castles and decorated palaces of the past into
the present. The installation takes the exhibition title as it’s starting point; the crumbling
palace; something perishable, whose great period is over. Broken Palace consists of
tapestries of paper crystals, transparent pieces of furniture and shadows of trees painted
directly on the wall.
Marianne Grønnow belongs to the most original, Danish artists of contemporary art. She
is well-known both in Denmark and internationally for her sumptuous and poetic
installations. Her work establishes a particular contrast between the monumental
proportions and the fragile material, between the tactile and the dreamily. During the last
few years her thorough work with ornament and decoration has gradually lead her to this
characteristic media, where ornaments cut and punched out in paper and cardboard let
go of the surface and move directly into the space.
Marianne Grønnow is educated at The Royal Danish Art Academy in Copenhagen. Her
work is represented among others at Statens Museum for Kunst (The Danish National
Gallery) and Malmö Konstmuseum.
