PICTURES FROM THE EXHIBITION Meet some of EXIT09 artists
Lasse Ernlund Lorentzen, Skolen for Tidsbaserede Medier (School of Time-based Medias)
"I think that maybe it’s about time we descend from the ivory tower and actually create something for the world, which can also be used and grasped. Not that we all have to have to make music videos but we should be open to the fact that we actually can work with other professional qualifications. And that’s actually what I consider to be one of the most important roles of myself as an artist – to use my abilities and combine them with those of others that are different from mine so that we can transgress into something that’s never been seen before."
Mia Møller Andersen, Grafiske skole (School of Graphic Arts)
"I often work with something that’s linguistic as a point of departure. For example, I find it interesting that we have to expect from language that it remains concise – which of course it also can be, but once you start nerding around with it and really think about it, then it can often be misunderstood."
"To me, being an artist means an opportunity to thoroughly study all of the aspects and phenomena of and in the world that I find interesting – a constant pondering and investigation of life."
"It is important to me to emphasise, that art is not culture. Cuture is everything between people in connection with nationality, sociality, history, ect., whereas art primarily is concerned with what it means to produce meaning altogether, like in literature. If people had the right state of mind for it, I think they would have an easier time trying to understand art."
Rolf Nowotny, Skolen for Tidsbaserede Medier (School of Time-based Medias)
"My pieces are actually a form of linguistic objects where each element is loaded with meaning."
Stine Marie Jacobsen, Skolen for Tidsbaserede Medier (School of Time-based Medias)
"That’s what art is really about – to experiencing and speaking together. The broad spectre of spectators needs to learn how to use the guide and the offers of guided tours. If you find it strange that some garbage has been put into a corner at a museum – then go ahead and ask! There is a reason why it has been put there, it is never a coincidence."
