Changing spaces
SALEN is a meeting space with character. For the last five years, a variety of established Danish artists and designers have been asked to create installations in SALEN, making it an inspiring setting for meetings of any kind. This commission has now been given to the Danish artist Kirstine Roepstorff who has created a new work for the space, entitled "STORIES".
Kirstine Roepstorff is about to have her breakthrough on the international art scene. She is famous for her work with appropriations, where mass media images are reused in a new and surprising context, often spectacular, vivid and colourful setups and a wealth of materials. In the project: STORIES in GL STRAND she adapts her work, and creatively rethinks the spatial layout of well-known meeting room components. The linoleum mosaics on the table are abstract, but at the same time they reflect shapes and colours in the curtains along the walls. The meeting space is characterized by a number of full-height curtains with print and fabric collages. The collages have a figurative nature, and add a narrative element to the patterns shapes and colours.
Roepstorff’s concept is a total installation which questions the notion that a meeting room ideally act as a neutral shell surrounding the meeting. SALEN challenges our notions of what a meeting room must be in addition to being functional.
SALEN has been moved to the ground floor and can be rented at half-or full-day
basis. Rent an inspiring meeting room!
